Special Programs Summer Events
Special Programs summer events are activities for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities that provide opportunities to learn new skills, try new activities, get outside, enjoy some physical activity and spend time with friends.
2024 Adventure Trips
Explore some of the fun activities and events Wisconsin has to offer in the summer. These trips require swim ability, hiking over rough terrain, climbing multiple flights of stairs and other physical demands.

Friday, June 28th – Noah’s Ark
America’s Largest Waterpark! A hot dog lunch will be provided if you would like something else, please bring money for lunch or snack. Note: Noah’s Ark is a cashless venue! We can convert cash into a gift card but we will not be able to convert it back to cash so your change will remain on the gift card.
Monday, July 15th – Action territory
Bumper Cars, Lazer Tag, Bumper Boats, and Mini Golf. Please bring your own lunch.
Monday, July 22nd – Canoeing
Get ready for a 7–10-mile canoe experience on Mirror Lake, followed by hiking, a picnic lunch and swimming! Please bring your own lunch.
Friday, August 2nd – Urban ecology Center
Build your camping skills and find art in nature all around us with two exciting programs from the Urban Ecology Center! Please bring your own lunch for an afternoon picnic.

2024 All Access Day Trips

Monday, June 17th – Milwaukee Zoo
Spend a day at the Milwaukee County Zoo. Please bring your own lunch
Monday, July 1st – Brewers Tour & Veterans Park
Go behind the scenes at American Family Field and spend the afternoon soaking in the lake front views at Veterans Park. Wheel Fun Surry Bike rentals and Kites from Gift of Wings kite store may be rented pending availability. Please bring your own lunch for an afternoon picnic.
Monday, July 8th – Ultra Zone Lazer tag and Vitense Mini Golf
A morning of Lazer Tag and an afternoon filled with mini golf all in beautiful Madison. ** Warning: Flashing lights at lazer tag may cause seizures. The meal that will be provided is pizza, lemonade and an ice cream treat. May bring $ if you would like to purchase something different.
Thursday, July 11th – Brewer’s game
Spend the day cheering on the Brewers! Lunch will be provided. American Family Field is cashless, but participants may bring a debit or credit card to purchase concessions. We can convert cash into a gift card but we will not be able to convert it back to cash so your change will remain on the gift card.
Friday, August 9th – Fireside: Matilda
Spend a day at the Fireside Theatre for some fine dining and a great show –Matilda! The meal provided is a signature salad, chicken alfredo and pecan turtle ball sundae. No funding or staff discount use for this trip!
Thursday, August 15th – Brewer’s Game

Tuesday, August 20th – Night Fishing (evening event)
We’ll cast off to catch the biggest fish on Okauchee Lake! This trip is not wheelchair accessible but is appropriate for those using walkers or who can walk for short periods of time. Hot Dog, chips, fruit or veggie, dessert and water provided for dinner
